All You Need to Know about Food & Drink in Linlithgow

Over the next couple of months I am running the #LoveLinlithgow campaign on Love Linlithgow Life across FacebookInstagram and Twitter. To find out more about the campaign, have a look at #LoveLinlithgow.  Or, if you want to know a bit more about what inspired the page, then head over to my welcome blog.

This weeks ‘Linlithgow Locals’ interviews are with Granary Cafe and Linlithgow Distillery. Find out more about these local businesses who have just started up in the town last year but are already well know names and very popular.

This week our blog is on……

All You Need to Know About Food & Drink in Linlithgow

We have a great selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes in Linlithgow. In fact some may say we even have too many cafes .. 😉 There are also lots of lovely food and drink shops and businesses, which means we are lucky enough to be able to get most of what we need locally.

Eating & Drinking Out and About

There are far too many places for me to talk about but the Linlithgow website has a great directory if you’re looking for some inspiration for Cafes & Restaurants or Pubs.

champnayThere are also a few others on the edge of town not listed on the website which are worth a shout out about. Champany Inn is the perfect spot for a special meal in it’s restaurant or the Chop and Ale house, there are also rooms and a wine cellar.

mannerstonsMannerstons, out at Mannerstons Holdings, is a great family run cafe, which has a fab shop selling artisan ice cream, farm produce and lovely gift items.

Park bistroThe Park Bistro is at the edge of town in a great setting alongside the Union Canal. It is a favourite with my girls, particularly due to the family friendly play room.

Do you know what the number one rated places for eating out are on Trip Advisor in Linlithgow? Well Delhi’s Winter takes top place for restaurants in the town and So Strawberry Caffe is number one for tea and coffee. Both definitely worth a visit if you’ve not been before.

The Linlithgow Trail

TrailThe Linlithgow Trail was established in 2014 by Pub Watch and the Linlithgow Town Centre Bid and is proving a popular one with locals and visitors alike!

You start at one end of the High Street – either the Star & Garter or the West Port  – and have to visit the nine participating pubs to get a T-shirt at the end.

I am definitely tempted to give this a go I have to say, have you completed the trail?

Specialist Food & Drink

We are also lucky enough to have a range of specialist shops in the town. There is again a list on the Linlithgow website of Delicatessen, Fishmongers & Butchers. We have a new local gin, LinGin, as featured in the ‘Linlithgow Locals’ blog with Linlithgow Distillery.

Grow Wild Organics

grow wildI know many people were disappointed when the Wee Fruit and Veg shop closed on the High Street, but did you know there was a shop you can still get organic fruit and veg from? Grow Wild Organics  are open from 10am – 4pm on a Friday at Bonnytoun Farm and also stock dairy, meat, poultry, game, store cupboard essentials.

Sebastian Kobelt Patissier & ChocolatierSK

We are also lucky enough to be home to Sebastian Kobelt, 2017 winner of Patisserie of the Year Award (Scottish Food & Drink Awards). With a shop on the High Street (open Friday – Sunday) and the kitchen in the industrial estate, they create a range of artisan cakes and chocolates to make your mouth water! I have sampled the chocolates and they are something very special.

Truly Scrumptious Designer Cakes

Truly Scrumptious are located at the Cross on the High Street and specialise in designer wedding cakes, children’s birthday cakes and any kind of cake you can think of! If you have walked past their shop window you will have seen some of the truly amazing creations, and it will be no surprise they are regularly nominated for, and have won awards.

Class of Wine

ClassofWineClass of Wine are based locally and run regular wine tastings in The Burgh Halls. Run by Vikki Anderson who is a fully qualified further education lecturer. Class of Wine focus on hosting fun, informative events that are interactive, engaging and educational. Findlater’s Fine Foods

findlatersFindlater’s started life as a restaurant and delicatessen in Linlithgow in 2004. The deli sold handmade pate which was such a success they decided to focus on it. Now based in the industrial estate, the pates are still hand made in small batches, and the range has been extended to include gourmet dips and pies.

And there’s more!

LiaDid you know we have a local food blogger, who has a following of nearly 6000 people on Instagram?! The lovely Lia Teixeira, originally from Portugal, hosts her blog Lemon & Vanilla which features weekly recipes and her regular Instagram posts always leave me feeling hungry! She is going to be creating something especially for us this week, which I can’t wait to see :).

nutriclub

There is also Nutriclub run by Louise, who offers a different approach to weight loss with Nutriclub classes or 1-to-1 coaching. The focus is on healthy eating without calorie counting, providing you with nutritional information to help nourish and make you feel good.

Sorry for anyone I have missed! I have tried to include everyone I can find but sure there are more businesses out there so feel free to give yourselves a shout out ….
